Pastor Fredrick B. Bowman is an ordained elder in full-connection in the United Methodist Church. Pastor Bowman is currently serving Plaza United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC. Pastor Bowman prior to coming to Plaza in 2007 served seven years as pastor of the Burge Memorial-Rock Hill Charge in the Charlotte District. He has worked in corporate occupations for twelve years in data processing at The Federal Reserve Bank and Unisys Corporation before accepting his call in ministry. Pastor Bowman has served as Minister of Church Administration for eight years in two large churches, (Salem Baptist Church and University City United Methodist Church, both in Charlotte, NC). Pastor Bowman has a national certification in Church Business Administration from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He was also the first Director of Room In The Inn, a homeless ministry sponsored by the Urban Ministry Center in Charlotte.
Pastor Bowman is a native of Wilmington, NC and after graduating from John T. Hoggard High School in 1975 he pursued his education at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC where he received a diploma in Computer Operations and an Associate Applied Science Degree in Marketing. He continued his education at Pfeiffer University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He received his Master of Divinity Degree from Hood Theological Seminary. Pastor Bowman is currently pursuing the Doctor of Ministry degree. He is married to Mrs. Kim Darby-Bowman, and they have three daughters, Jolyn, Tameka, and Meagan. They also have three grandchildren, Kahmal who lives with him and his wife, Essence, who currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio, and Royce, born in March 2007.
